How to set up Bing Places for an HVAC company
Short answer: Go to bingplaces.com, sign in with a Microsoft account, then either import your Google Business Profile or claim your business by phone number. Use exactly the same name, address and phone as on Google, verify the listing, and expect it to appear on Bing within about one to two weeks after verification. It takes about 30 minutes of work.
Why Bing matters for an HVAC company in 2026
Most HVAC owners set up Google and forget Bing. Industry research reports that ChatGPT relies heavily on Bing's index when it searches the web. If your company isn't on Bing Places, one of the main sources ChatGPT may check simply doesn't know you exist.
Before you start
- A Microsoft account (Outlook or Hotmail works, or create one for free).
- Your exact business name, phone and address as they appear on Google and your website.
- Access to the business email or phone for verification.
- 3 to 10 photos: team, trucks, real jobs.
Step 1. Sign in
Open bingplaces.com and sign in with your Microsoft account.
Step 2. Import from Google, or claim your listing
Option A, fastest: choose "Import from Google Business Profile", sign in with the Google account that manages your profile, allow access and pick your location. If your Google profile is verified, Bing may verify the import automatically. That doesn't always happen; if it doesn't, you'll verify it in step 4.
Option B: search for your business by phone number. If Bing already has a listing, click "Claim business". If not, choose "Create new business".
Step 3. Fill out the listing
- Business name: exactly as on Google and your signage. Don't add keywords like "Best AC Repair Frisco". That can get a listing suspended.
- Address and service area: if customers don't visit you, you can hide the street address and list the cities you serve. Bing doesn't accept PO boxes.
- Phone: the same local number as on your website and Google.
- Category: choose the closest HVAC or heating and air conditioning category.
- Description: one plain sentence first: who you are, what you do, which cities, since when.
- Hours: include emergency or 24/7 service if you offer it.
- Website and social profiles: add your website, Facebook and Yelp links.
- Photos: the first photo becomes the main image, so pick a clear one.
Step 4. Verify
Bing offers several methods depending on the business: email (usually the fastest), phone, the Bing Places mobile app, or a postcard with a code. Reported postcard delivery times range from about 5 to 10 business days.
Step 5. Wait for publishing and check
After verification, Bing reports a publishing cycle of about 7 to 14 days. Then search your company name on bing.com/maps and check that the name, phone and address match your Google profile exactly.
Common mistakes
- A different phone number than on Google, such as a tracking number on one and the office line on the other.
- An old or duplicate listing left unclaimed. Claim it and fix it rather than creating a second one.
- Keywords added to the business name.
- Setting it up once and never updating hours or photos.

Don't have 30 minutes for this?
Most HVAC owners don't. Iscra Search sets up and checks your Bing, Google and directory listings, then shows you what ChatGPT says before and after.
