Which HVAC companies do ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity recommend in Frisco, TX?
Short answer: We asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity 10 common homeowner questions about HVAC in Frisco, TX, twice each, and got 60 answers naming 48 different companies. Colony Air Conditioning & Heating was named in 42 of the 60 answers, far more than any other company. Only 9 companies were named by all three assistants, and when asked how much AC repair costs, the assistants quoted prices published on local HVAC companies' own websites.
Key findings
- One company dominated. Colony Air Conditioning & Heating appeared in 42 of 60 answers and was named first 17 times. The next most-named companies, Air Repair Pros, Legend Air Conditioning & Heating, Varsity Zone HVAC and Berkeys, appeared in 21 to 24 answers each.
- The assistants disagree a lot. Of the 48 companies named, only 9 appeared in all three assistants. 19 companies were named only by Perplexity, 9 only by Gemini and 7 only by ChatGPT. Being visible in one assistant says little about the others.
- Some companies are visible in only one assistant. The Cold Truth Air Conditioning & Heating and DT Air Conditioning of Frisco were named 11 and 10 times by ChatGPT, and never by Gemini or Perplexity.
- Published prices get quoted. For "how much does AC repair cost in Frisco TX", the assistants cited local HVAC company websites that publish price information: Air Repair Pros (cited 8 times across two Gemini answers), Colony Air Conditioning & Heating (cited by ChatGPT and Perplexity, including its $85 diagnostic fee), Jupitair HVAC and Varsity Zone HVAC.
- Answers change between runs. Asked the same price question twice, ChatGPT named three companies the first time and none the second. For "best AC repair in Frisco TX", Perplexity named 5 companies in one run and 13 in the other.

What this means for HVAC companies
AI assistants don't share one list of "top companies". Each reads different sources, so a company has to be easy to find and verify in all of them: consistent listings on Google, Bing and Yelp, reviews on more than one platform, and a website that says plainly what it does, where, and roughly what it costs.
